Paypal opens global HQ in Singapore

The largest and most popular online payment company Paypal opened it’s international headquarters and development center in Singapore yesterday, 6th November 2007. This will effectively create more than 200 tech jobs for the IT job market in Singapore.

The HQ, at Neil Road, will serve the global market excluding US and Canada. It will serve as Paypal’s development center where products and new features for the payment service will be done.

It is predicted that the international online payment business will be bigger than its North American market by next year as more and more people goes online to make purchases and transfer money. Currently, there are more than 164 million Paypal accounts in the world with $17.4 billion in transactions in the third quarter of this year alone.

Yet again this shows that the Singapore Government has done a great job for making Singapore the number choice for many foreign companies to choose Singapore as their regional and international headquarters.

All Paypal user please be alert that there’s a Paypal survey fraud going around. This time it’s a survery fraud. Fraud is never ending. All kinds of fraud happened - be it online and offline. It was Nigerian who are good at it but the China people are going all out nowadays. I bet most of you recall many were caught being greedy by the prize fraud by China companies.

Recently, these people from Chinese sees new opportunity in getting it with Paypal users. Mr. Larry Lim got a call from a Chinese guy (number +862128913333) from China pretending to do survey on Paypal’s behalf. He asked for Paypal email and registered address to “verify” his identity. The scary part is that this Chinese guy also has the last 4 digit of his credit card number. Please be aware that revealing these info will enable them to get the password of your account.

So do not give out your information to anyone who calls you to do Paypal survey on the phone. This applies to emails regarding such things as Paypal will announce such activities on their website. Check before you give out you information!
