Know Who’s Sharing Your Server

My IP Neighbors

Most of us couldn’t afford paying for a dedicated server. So we use a shared hosting where most of our hosting provider cramp in a huge hosts of websites in one server. Do you ever wonder how many websites/blogs or users are using the same server as your websites/blogs? I bet most of you do not know. I didn’t know earlier either until I found My IP Neighbors - a reverse IP domain checking tool. How it works is that you enter a domain name and the tool looks up your server’s IP address, and then finds out which other websites use the same IP.

The Best Icon Search Engine

Here’s a very nice search engine which is 100% dedicated to icons only. I stumbled upon this icon search engine, iconfinder, when I was “stumbling” websites using StumbleUpon. I decided to share it with you guys here.

What is iconfinder ?

iconfinder - The best icon search engine

Iconfinder is a search engine dedicated to search download able icons uploaded by icon designers.

All the icons are in PNG-format. The benefit of PNG-images is the alpha-channel, meaning that pixels can be transparent. Do not copy-paste icons into eg. Photoshop, since icons will loose their alpha-channel information. Instead, use the download-link to save icons locally.

Designers can submit their icons by sending an email to martin.leblanc@gmail.com via attachment in compressed format. Icons sent should be strictly PNG format in these sizes (pixel) - 12 x 12, 16 x 16, 22 x 22, 32 x 32, 48 x 48, 64 x 64 or 128 x 128.

Web Hosting Database Down for more than 3 hours

Shinjiru - Offshore Dedicated Server Web Hosting ProvidersThis afternoon Crispnetworks’ web hosting database was down for about an hour starting at around 2pm. After discovering that my Crispnetworks was down, I quickly contact my web hosting provider Shijiru through online support to resolve the problem.

The problem was solved in 3 hours. It is an acceptable time frame as I’m not as active as previously blogging at Crispnetworks due to my work. But previous time was take off my blog. Hopefully any similar problem can be resolved within an hour.

Anyway, thanks for the job done to team Shinjiru.

Currently, the best deal I’ve seen is the hosting services by Exabytes. Which web hosting provider are you using? Hope to get some ideas when I need to purchase new hosting for my other blogs.
